Desktop Snapshots

Desktop Snapshots are work-in-progress builds that are available for anyone to download and test. Try new desktop browser features and fixes before anyone else!

Snapshot (1.0.161.2) more bugfixing

This week has been a bit emotional for some of us as we learned that the company many of us worked for before, Opera, dismantled its Oslo desktop team and fired some 70 employees around the world. As you can imagine, this is a major move for the company as this is where it all started, with the desktop browser in Oslo.

Many of our good friends around the globe lost their jobs. Our thoughts are with them all. Clearly this makes our task even more important and we will continue to work hard making the best browser available for you, our friends.

Hey,

While other companies are busy making clever gags with fake products, and inside joke, we are busy fixing bugs and improve Vivaldi!

As we are preparing for the TP3 release, we wanted to get some more testing done. So, we are sending the 2nd snapshot build of the week.

In this build, we changed the way Tiling works based on the feedback. Now, you can right-click on a tab stack and select Tile Tab Stack.

Snapshot 1.0.141.2 with more Tiling options and advanced notes, improved spatial navigation and fast forward

We have continued to work on Tiling of tabs. You can now tile both vertically and horizontally. Additionally we have added ability to tile as a grid. Spatial Navigation also got better and faster with live indexing and more polish!

Tab Stack tiling, on demand plugins in tabs, more Mouse Gestures, better import and a more snappy UI

Hello everyone,

It’s happy Thursday which usually means it is not a day for our weekly snapshot.

However, we’ve decide to make a new build available anyway. We just had too many things that we wanted to share with you and we had some broken features and some regressions in our last build as well.

New snapshot with an update for Chromium and Auto-Update on windows

Chromium 41 has been merged into Vivaldi, changing up a lot of code. We’ve enabled first implementation of auto-update available on Windows 32-bit.

Weekly snapshot 1.0.129.2

Hi,

It’s Monday, it means time for another snapshot 🙂

This week, we’ve added 3 new languages including Lojban 🙂

  • Indonesian
  • Persian (not supported in Chrome)
  • Lojban (not supported in Chrome)

Subject: Snapshot 1.0.124.2: Mea Culpa

After we released the 1.0.123.10 snapshot yesterday, some observant testers checked the release for the recent FREAK vulnerability, and found that The Linux and Mac versions were vulnerable. 🙁

FREAK is “just” the latest SSL/TLS releated with its own trademarked name (following in the footsteps of Heartbleed, POODLE, Shellshock and others).

Weekly snapshot 1.0.123.10 is available for download

Hi everyone,

Last week, our team focused on getting the second Technical Preview out the door.

We got some nice media coverage, yay! Thanks everyone for helping us to spread the word!

The work on improving spatial navigation is ongoing. We’ve tweaked the link selection algorithm and few other things but we still have more to do before this feature works perfectly.

We also improved the on-demand image loading feature. You can now decide which image to load while you are in Show only cashed images mode. For a image not loaded, you can right click and choose Reload Image. It’s still work in progress but we thought you might be interested.

We have also done some work to improve the speed of the Vivaldi UI. This includes updating some components, noticeably React. Hopefully, you notice some nice UI performance improvements 🙂

Technical Preview 2 is here!

Since the launch of our first public release of Technical Preview 1, we have been working hard to fix as many issues as we can in addition to implementing new features. Today, we reached a new milestone by launching Technical Preview 2. It will replace the current build we have on www.vivaldi.com For those of […]
