On desktop, Ctrl+F / ⌘ F is a well known Keyboard Shortcut for searching through the open web page. On mobile devices, where the screens fit even less content in the visible area, being able to just search for a keyword is even more useful.

To search in Vivaldi on iOS:

1. Open the  Vivaldi menu.
2. Select “Find in Page”.
3. Enter your search keyword.

Search results will start showing as you type. Use the arrows next to the search input field to move to the ˅ next and ˄ previous results. Tap on “Done”, when you’re finished with your search.

Instead of looking through all your folders in the File Manager/Finder, you can easily open the destination folder of the downloaded file from the Downloads Panel.

To open the folder in which you saved a file:

1. Open the Downloads Panel and locate the file in the list.
2. Click on “Show in File Manager/Finder” button on the right side of the file title.

Progressive Web Apps (PWAs) are a great alternative to installing separate apps for websites and services you use frequently. But as you browse in the PWA, you may come across external links that open in the in-app browser view instead of the main browser.

To open links from a PWA in the main browser window:

1. Long press on a link to open the context menu.
2. Select “Open in Vivaldi browser”.

As you scroll through posts on Vivaldi Social, you’re bound to come across new profiles that get you curious about who the person is. You can get a quick overview of the author from profile previews.

To preview a profile:

1. Find a post that has piqued your interest.
2. Hover over the author’s display name.

The size of some Widgets can be resized to fit your Dashboard‘s layout better and/or to display as much or little content as you want to see.

To resize Widgets:

1. Open the widget’s menu from the top right corner.
2. Hover over “Widget Size”.
3. Choose between the Regular or Tall size.

Resizing is available for the following Widgets: Bookmarks, Calendar Agenda, Feeds, Latest Emails, Tasks and the Webpage widget.

Some Extension dialogs can be quite complex. To make using them easier, you can convert the pop-out dialogs into Web Panels.

To add an extension to Web Panels:

1. Install an extension from Chrome Web Store.
2. Click on it on the Address Bar to open its pop-out dialog.
3. Right-click on the dialog.
4. Select “Add Page to Web Panel” form the context menu.
5. If needed, adjust the width of the panel.

It’s not guaranteed to work with all extensions, but most should behave just fine.

You might need to update your subscription depending on how you’re following Vivaldi Tips.

If you’ve added the Tips widget to the Dashboard in the desktop version of Vivaldi or you check in on the Community homepage on vivaldi.net daily, you don’t need to do anything.

When you’ve enabled automatic theme switches from light to dark and back or do it often manually on your iPhone or iPad, you can have Vivaldi change themes accordingly as well.

To follow the system’s theme:

1. Go to Settings > Appearance and Theme > Browser Theme.
2. Select “System”.

To check whether you’ve ever visited a website, to get a reality check on how frequently you doom scroll on a site, or just being curious, in Vivaldi on Android, you can easily see the most recent time you opened a website.

To see when you visited the website, while the page is open in the active tab, tap on the Tracker and Ad Blocker / Site info button on the left side of the Address Bar. To see all the times you’ve visited the site, tap on the ► little arrow on the right side of the date.

Alternatively, you can search for the site in the History Panel.

Are you more selective about whose timeline your Vivaldi Social posts appear on and who can see posts only meant for followers? If the answer is yes, we recommend manually approving each person who wants to start following you.

To enable follow requests review:

1. Go to Preferences > Public Profile > Privacy and reach.
2. Disable “Automatically accept new followers”.
3. Click “Save changes”.

Then, whenever someone wants to follow you, you need to approve it on the “Follow requests” page.

At Vivaldi, we believe that a browser should adapt to you, not the other way around. And that’s probably why we have 11 ways to close a tab. 😅 Take a look at the list below and try out the ones you didn’t even know about. Maybe there’s a new favorite among them.

To close a tab:

• On the Tab Bar, click on the X button on the tab.
• On the Tab Bar, right-click on the tab and select “Close Tab”.
• On the Tab Bar, click on a tab with the middle mouse button
• On the Tab Bar, double-click on tabs (first, enable “Double-Click to Close Tab” in Settings > Tabs > Tab Handling).
• In the Windows Panel, click on the X button next to the tab’s title.
• In the Windows Panel, right-click on the tab title and select “Close”.
• In the Windows Panel, select the tab you want to close and press “Delete” on your keyboard.
• Use the Keyboard Shortcut Ctrl + W / ⌘ W to close the active tab.
• In Quick Commands, type “Close Tab” to close the active tab.
• Use a Mouse Gesture to close the active tab – while holding down the right mouse button, drag the mouse downwards and then to the left creating an L shape. Release the mouse button to close the tab.
• In the main menu > File, select “Close Tab”.

Whether you switch between light and dark modes on your computer manually or you’ve set up a schedule to switch between them automatically, you can select different Vivaldi Themes for both operating system’s light and dark modes.

To assign themes for light and dark modes:

1. Go to Settings > Themes > Theme Schedule.
2. Select “Operating System”.
3. Choose a theme for both Light and Dark.
