We have now begun publishing our Snapshot stream for the Vivaldi iOS browser.
To make it easier and lower the risk for you to test our cutting edge builds, Vivaldi Snapshot is a separate application that will be installed alongside the Final and have its own set of preferences and settings.
Differences to Beta/Final
The purpose of these snapshots is to allow our fans a chance to preview upcoming changes, and to help us ensure the quality of our latest fixes and improvements, before we add them to Final. If you would prefer something that was already widely tested, stick with the main Vivaldi iOS package.
When testing a Snapshot, it is a good idea to review the changelog (below). Try out the changes and let us know your thoughts in the comments section or report it directly to our bug tracking system. When commenting or reporting a bug, remember that it is helpful to mention the version you were testing with.
Known issues
- Tab switcher may not show any tabs if you have one tab.
- The search engine nickname isn’t functioning properly.
- The toolbar on the iPhone is broken when in landscape mode.
Donation badge
Vivaldi generates money via various deals, however we also accept donations, which is a great way to support development more directly.
Recently we provided a way to optionally display your role in supporting us via a little hexagon on your avatar on our forums, or other sites like Vivaldi Social. Now, this badge is also visible within the browser, serving as a visual reminder that you’re helping us build something great. Thank you for your continued support!
Take a look at the changelog for a full overview of the changes and let us know what you think.
Here are some of the changes that have been made:
- Add settings for showing X button for background tabs (VIB-519)
A new setting option that allows users to show the “X” (close) button on background tabs. This can help prevent accidentally closing tabs that are not currently active. - Add settings for new tab on closing last tab and focus new tab on omnibox (VIB-743)
With this new setting, the focus will shift to the omnibox (address bar) in the newly opened tab, making it easier to start a new search or enter a URL. - Implement show full address settings (VIB-822)
This allows users to see the full URL in the address bar. It can be useful for users who prefer to view the complete web address for better clarity and security. - Add support for showing supporter badge in iOS Sync Settings (VIB-772)
This additional feature displays a supporter badge within the Sync Settings. Users who have donated us will now see their badge. - Add nickname match type label to suggestions (VIB-780)
In the latest update, we have added a new nickname match label to the address bar. The layout and display have now been improved to enhance clarity and visibility. - Remember last used folder for adding bookmarks from main menu (VIB-364)
When adding bookmarks via the main menu, Vivaldi now remembers the last folder you used. This makes it faster and easier to organize bookmarks.
