Choosing the right search engine – Vivaldi Browser snapshot 3570.29

In today’s snapshot continue the stablization process as we close in on the 7.1 release.

A view looking at the Munch museum. The skies and water (Oslo fjord) are shades of pink and purple in the early morning as the sun begins to rise. There is a unicycle resting on the snowy edge of the path by the water.

Search engine selection

As explained in our article, “What’s Vivaldi’s business model?”, we generate some of our income via partner deals with search engines. However we are aware that quite a few of our users are using search engines with whom we have no deal. To help keep your favourite web browser improving, those users will now see a one off prompt to switch engines to one of our partners. The exact partner we suggest will depend on your region. However in all cases we try our best to suggest something that also benefits you! That might be a more privacy focussed engine like Startpage or DuckDuckGo, or perhaps one with a more environmental angle like Ecosia.

Of course if you would like to keep using the search engine you have currently selected, that is fine! If you are looking for additional ways to contribute financially instead, there is always: vivaldi.com/donate. 😉
