In today’s snapshot, we are introducing a new menu customization option and a new blocker dialog.

We have now begun publishing our Snapshot stream for the Vivaldi iOS browser.

To make it easier and lower the risk for you to test our cutting edge builds, Vivaldi Snapshot is a separate application that will be installed alongside the Final and have its own set of preferences and settings.

Differences to Beta/Final

The purpose of these snapshots is to allow our fans a chance to preview upcoming changes, and to help us ensure the quality of our latest fixes and improvements, before we add them to Final. If you would prefer something that was already widely tested, stick with the main Vivaldi iOS package.

When testing a Snapshot, it is a good idea to review the changelog (below). Try out the changes and let us know your thoughts in the comments section or report it directly to our bug tracking system. When commenting or reporting a bug, remember that it is helpful to mention the version you were testing with.

Here are some of the changes that have been made:

  • Enable Customize menu on the main menu (VIB-852)
A new feature that allows users to customize the main menu. Users can now personalize the main menu for a better and easier browsing experience.
  • Combine Site Prefs and Tracker blocker dialog (VIB-677)
We’ve streamlined the user interface by combining the “Site Preferences” and “Tracker Blocker” dialogs into a single, unified dialog. With this change, users can access blocker settings even if other buttons are set in the toolbar.
  • Crash on closing private tab from pull to refresh menu (VIB-867)
We’ve resolved an issue where the application would crash when attempting to close a private tab using the “Pull to Refresh” menu. Thank you to those who reported this issue!
  • An extra backspace should clear the non-default search engine (VIB-859)
With this update, an additional press of the backspace key will now clear any non-default search engine selection. This small tweak ensures a more intuitive experience when performing searches.
  • Pasting a letter followed by a search gives an odd result (VIB-861)
A bug was identified where pasting a single letter into the address bar followed by a search could lead to unexpected results. The address bar should now handle such inputs correctly.
  • [Sync] Typing the wrong pass keeps the spinner spinning in the login (VIB-842)
We’ve fixed an issue where entering an incorrect password during the sync login process would cause the loading spinner to spinning indefinitely.
