In this snapshot, we have tweaked our onboarding workflow to make it easier for all potential users.

Onboarding accessibility change

We’re trying out a new onboarding step for people who have visual impairments, require keyboard-only access or use assistive technologies. This presents the earliest opportunity to choose the most important settings – for example, keyboard focus goes to all controls and links in a web page, set zoom, control movement etc. This comes from feedback that it’s laborious for screen reader users and others to go through all the settings from the menus.

For the privacy-conscious: this purely a quick access to the primary relevant settings; your disability status is not recorded by Vivaldi, nor communicated to anyone.

It does not offer all the applicable settings, only the main ones needed to get started. We’re eager to hear any feedback on this new onboarding stage. (Existing Vivaldi users can see this via “Help → Vivaldi welcome tour”, and go to the first step.)
