Add Search Widget to Home Screen – Vivaldi Android Browser snapshot 3054.4

Latest update fixes bugs and adds search widget to device’s home screen.

Here are some of the changes that have been made:

  • Prompt to Add Search Widget to Device’s Home Screen (VAB-7129)
One of the new features introduced in this update is the ability to add a search widget directly to your device’s home screen. With this convenient addition, accessing the search function becomes even easier and more efficient, allowing you to find information quickly and effortlessly.
  • Fixing Wrong Icons After Dragging Bookmarks (VAB-7454)
This bug has now been resolved, ensuring that after bookmark dragging is complete, check mark is retained to highlight the selected items.
  • Scrollable Translate panel view (VAB-7408)
Previously, the translate panel was hard to use in it’s smallest size and often the Translate button would be out of view.
  • Fixing Start Page Not Opening After Closing the Last Tab (VAB-7538)
An issue that frustrated users in the previous version was the opening of the Tab switcher instead of the Start page after closing the last tab. This regression has now been addressed, ensuring that the Start page consistently appears when all tabs are closed.
  • Resolving Crash While Showing Full History from System Back Button (VAB-7521)
In the previous version, users encountered a crash when attempting to access the full browsing history from the system’s back button.
  • Restoring “Open in New Tab” Option After Turning Off Tab Stacking (VAB-7545)
Previously, users who disabled tab stacking encountered an unintended consequence – the removal of the “Open in New Tab” option. However, in this update, this regression has been rectified, restoring the ability to open links in new tabs even after tab stacking has been disabled.
  • Resolving Crash Issue on Tablets After Disabling Tab Stacks (VAB-7503)
Users who experienced crashes on tablets after disabling tab stacks will be relieved to know that this issue has been addressed.
  • Fixing Play Store Crashes (VAB-7520, VAB-7560, VAB-7464)
Lastly, this update resolves various Play Store crashes.

Take a look at the changelog for a full overview of the changes and let us know what you think.

Differences to Final

The purpose of these snapshots is to allow our users a chance to preview upcoming changes, and to help us ensure the quality of our latest fixes and improvements, before we add them to Final. If you would prefer something that was already widely tested, stick with the main Vivaldi Android package.

When testing a Snapshot, it is a good idea to review the changelog (above). Try out the changes and let us know your thoughts in the comments section or directly in the Play Store. When commenting in the Play Store, remember that it is helpful to mention the version you were testing with.
