Vivaldi 7.7 RC 2 – Vivaldi Desktop Browser snapshot 3851.40/43

Today’s snapshot is the second release candidate for 7.7 for desktop and notebooks. (P.S. enable crash reporting! 💣)

View from the elevated Monolitten plateau in Vigelandsparken, Oslo, looking out over the symmetrical park landscape. In the foreground, two large granite sculptures flank a descending staircase, each depicting intertwined human figures in Gustav Vigeland’s signature style. Beyond the sculptures, formal paths, bare trees, and manicured lawns stretch toward a central fountain, with the overcast sky.

Enable Automatic Crash Logging

Vivaldi can automatically send crash reports to help us improve stability. This feature is disabled by default, but your feedback as a Snapshot user is especially valuable.

To enable it, go to: Settings → Privacy and Security → Privacy → Crash Reporting → Allow Vivaldi to Send Automatic Crash Reports

Thank you for helping us make Vivaldi better! 💥

Release candidate feedback

To help us get 7.7 out the door as soon as possible, please focus your feedback on serious regressions since 7.6 stable. If you want to ask about new (post 7.7) features or longstanding issues, please do so on our forums.

There are also pre-release links to equivalent builds for the stable channel. These are for those of you who wish to upgrade early, having first tested in snapshot configuration. Since this is an RC and not yet a release, we also recommend you backup your settings before upgrading. Autoupdate to these (or newer) stable builds will not be enabled until further testing is completed and the final is released.

Known Issues

  • When installed before the official 7.7 release date, build 3851.43 will show the wrong “What’s New” page on first launch.

Changelog

  • [About][Windows] Error updating from the about page (VB-121807)
  • [Crash][PWA] Opening “Chrome” notification when associated PWA is installed (VB-108724)
  • [Import] from Chrome fails (VB-121035)
  • [Linux][Snap packages] Passwords could be lost on upgrade (VB-121270)

Note: The Snapshot stream 3851.40 and Stable 3851.43 builds are identical, except for icon resources and the channel they will receive updates from.
