Many modern operating systems have made it easy to tile different apps and windows on the screen.

To tile Vivaldi with other apps on Windows:

1. Hover over the maximize button in the top right corner.
2. Select your preferred tiling option.

To tile Vivaldi with other apps on macOS:

1. Hover over the maximize button in the top left corner.
2. Select your preferred tiling option.

On Linux, tiling windows and apps depends on the distro’s window manager, but many allow snapping to a tiled grid by dragging the window or using keyboard shortcuts.

Cookies keep you logged in, store your preferences, and save other information about your visit to the site. If you want to remove the data for a particular site, you don’t need to delete all saved cookies and data from Settings > Privacy and security > Clear browsing data. Instead, you can do it while you have the site open in the active tab.

To delete cookies:

1. Tap on the Site info button on the left side of the Address Bar.
2. Select «Cookies and site data».
3. Next to the number showing the amount stored data, tap on Delete.

You can change the sorting order of Mail messages separately in each view, but it’s always good to have a fitting default setting.

To change the default sorting order:

1. Go to Settings > Mail > Mail Settings > Mail List Sorting.
2. Select your preferred option:
   • Sort by Sender
   • Sort by Subject
   • Sort by Date Received
   • Sort by Date (Threaded)

When you «watch» topics on the Vivaldi Forum, you’ll receive notifications whenever someone replies to the discussion. You can start watching topics manually or be added as a watcher automatically after you’ve posted.

To change the default watch settings:

1. Click your profile image in the top right corner and select «Settings» from the menu, or head over to https://forum.vivaldi.net/me/settings.
2. In the «Watch» section, tick the boxes for «Watch topics you create» and/or «Watch topics that you reply to» if you want to receive notifications, or untick the boxes if you don’t want to be added as a watcher to the topic.
3. Scroll to the bottom of the page and click «Save changes».

Scrolling through your long lists of messages isn’t really an option if you receive a lot of mail. That’s when the search field with its filters comes to the rescue helping you find the message you’re looking for.

To search for a message in Vivaldi Mail:

1. Type something relevant to the message in the search field.
2. Use the available filters to narrow down your search.

The options include:

• Searching through all messages or specific accounts or folders.
• Specifying the date range.
• Looking for senders or recipients (From, To, CC).
• Searching by the email subject.
• Searching by something in the body of the message.
• Showing only messages that include attachments.
• Use the conjunction NOT to only find messages that do not match with the search keyword.

Visiting a new website often requires closing a few dialogs before you can focus on the content. Cookie consent dialogs are one of the more frequent types of annoyances on web pages. With the help of Vivaldi’s Tracker and Ad Blocker, you can hide them on your mobile.

To hide Cookie consent dialogs on mobile:

1. Go to Settings > Tracker and Ad Blocker.
2. Enable «Block Trackers and Ads».
3. Open «Manage Ad Blocking Sources».
4. Enable «Remove cookie warnings (Easylist Cookie List)» and «Remove cookie warnings (I don’t care about cookies)».

Have you cumulated a set of tabs that you would now like to move to a new workspace? Instead of first creating a new workspace and then moving the tabs, you can also create a new space while you moving tabs.

To create a new workspace from open tabs:

1. Select the tabs you want to put in the workspace.
2. Right-click on one of the selected tabs to open the context menu.
3. Select Move # Tabs > Workspace > Create Workspace with Selected Tabs.
4. Give the new workspace a name and select an icon for it.
5. Click «Create».

Copying feeds you follow in other feed reader clients to Vivaldi is easy when the feeds can be exported as an OPML file. You can also move your subscribed feeds from one Vivaldi instance to another that way.

To import feeds:

1. Export your feeds as an OPML file from your current client.
2. In Vivaldi, go to the Vivaldi menu > File > Import from Applications or Files.
3. From the dropdown menu, select «Feeds (OPML file)».
4. Click «Choose file» and locate your exported feeds file.
5. Review the feeds’ titles and update frequency.
6. Click «Add Feeds».

Reduce memory usage by automatically hibernating tabs that haven’t been used in a while. This way, active tabs, such as those used for gaming or streaming, can run more smoothly.

To enable the Memory Saver:

1. Go to Settings > Tabs > Memory Saver.
2. Select your preferred option:
   • Disabled
   • Automatic (recommended)
   • After 1 Hour Idle
   • After 2 Hours Idle
   • After 3 Hours Idle
   • After 6 Hours Idle

Since on Mastodon, there aren’t any algorithms deciding what content to show you, you need to actively follow accounts and hashtags to fill up your Vivaldi Social Home feed with interesting posts.

To find which hashtags to follow:

• See which hashtags others have added to their posts.
• Search for hashtags.
• Browse trending hashtags on the Explore page.

To follow a hashtag:

1. Click on the hashtag to view recent posts using the hashtag.
2. Near the top right corner, click on «Follow hashtag».

On macOS, Vivaldi browser’s main menu is baked into the operating system, but on Windows and Linux you can access the main menu from the icon in the top left corner of the browser window.

If you wish, you can replace the Vivaldi icon with a more generic, so-called «Hamburger», ☰ menu icon. To do that:

1. Go to Settings > Appearance > Menu > Menu Icon Style.
2. Select «Menu Icon».
