Multi-level tab groups
A key example of our unparalleled tab management. Just drag and drop your tabs to organize them in tab groups, which we call stacks. These can be renamed and colour-coded. Your stacks will remain in the main tab bar, and a second level will appear once you click on them, showing you the tabs within that group.
Make your tabs work for you
You know the feeling when you’re reading something good, there’s an interesting link, you click it, and twenty minutes later you’ve lost the original thread entirely and have eleven tabs open?
Not in Vivaldi. Our Follower Tab lets you open links in split-screen view, keeping the original page to your left.

While both browsers sync bookmarks, passwords, and settings across devices, the encryption is different. Vivaldi cannot access your data and will ask you to set your own encryption key for secure sync, so your data stays unreadable to anyone but you. Chrome offers an encrypted option too, but it’s off by default, so unless you turn it on Google can read your synced data.

Is Vivaldi better than Chrome for managing lots of tabs?
Yes, if you regularly have dozens of tabs open. Vivaldi gives you two-level tab stacks, unlimited tab tiling for split-screen viewing, and Workspaces, while Chrome offers only flat tab groups.

Do I need an extension for ad blocking?
No, Vivaldi has a built-in ad blocker with support for custom blocking lists. We are continuously working on it to improve it and adapt to the changes in the Web.

Does Vivaldi work with Google services, like mail and docs?
Chrome and Vivaldi are built on the same engine, so you won’t have any compatibility issues. Vivaldi can also block tracking and behavioral profiling on Google’s own sites, so you’ll get better privacy without losing access to your favourite tools.

Does Vivaldi have Gemini or AI features like Chrome?
No. Despite the pressure from the tech industry, we have rejected the idea of adding AI from the beginning. We have chosen a human-first approach and will not have any chatbots or AI summarization tool. Chrome, by contrast, has Gemini built-in as a core feature.
